The event, running from October 6th to 17th, has engage over 150 students across five key academic programs: Construction; Operation of Transport and Technological Machines and Facilities; Transport Process Technology; Waterways, Ports, and Hydraulic Structures; and Economics. The program features lectures and workshops led by industry experts from Global Ports, covering critical topics like container logistics, modern terminal infrastructure, and strategies for driving operational efficiency in ports.
"We are committed to tailoring our collaboration with educational institutions to the evolving interests and needs of students," said Yakov Fedorenko, HR Director at Global Ports. "This is our sixth Global Ports Week at Makarov University, and each year we refine the curriculum. Key areas like operational efficiency and ESG, once considered niche, are now core components of our courses. This year, we've also introduced new sessions on financial markets, bonds, and personal financial literacy to provide a more well-rounded perspective."
The initiative is a key part of a broader network cooperation agreement signed between Global Ports and Makarov University in 2024. The agreement focuses on joint training of a new generation of professionals for the port industry. As part of this partnership, senior students from the University can undertake year-long internships at Global Ports' terminals in St. Petersburg. Company employees also regularly lead classes and workshops for students throughout the academic year. In 2024, more than 50 students completed internships within the company. < Back to list
