As part of the container service between St. Petersburg and the ports of China, Aurora Line carried out the transportation of goods along the Northern Sea Route. The vessel of the Russian private company is carrying out direct international shipping through Arctic waters for the first time.
The container vessel HONG CHANG SHENG left St. Petersburg on August, 23 and as of September, 12 had already passed Cape Dezhnev. It is expected that the vessel will call at the Chinese port of Qingdao no later than September, 20. Thus, the route will take less than 30 days. This is one and a half times faster than the traditional route through the Suez Canal.
HONG CHANG SHENG holds 2,100 TEU. At the PLP, containers with Russian exports were loaded onto the ship: products of the chemical, woodworking and metalworking industries. The container ship will go back through the Suez Canal and deliver containers with Chinese consumer goods, electronics and cars to the Petrolesport terminal in St. Petersburg. < Back to list
