The Trends Radar incorporates a wide range of factors influencing the global transport sector and is structured into six categories: demographics, politics, economics, technology, ESG, and industry-specific trends. The analysis helps identify which trends will have the most significant impact on the logistics sector and organizes them by implementation timeframe, depending on how soon each trend is expected to become standard practice. Among the most notable trends with a horizon of up to five years are workforce shortages, changes in global commodity flows, the rising creditworthiness of transportation companies, increased investment focus on the Far East, a growing role of the state, and the development of artificial intelligence and e-commerce. Over a longer horizon of more than five years, the future of the industry will be shaped by digital transformation, robotics, and the development and adoption of new technologies.
“In an environment of high uncertainty and rapid change, systematic trend analysis allows us to anticipate emerging developments, see the full picture, and flexibly adapt our strategy to new realities. Trends do not operate in isolation: in some cases, they offset each other, and in others they amplify one another. Understanding such interdependencies is particularly important for informed decision-making in transport and logistics,” said Alexander Iodchin, First Deputy General Director for Strategy and Development at Delo Group.
“The key trends of the next several years include the restructuring of trade and economic alliances, changing freight flows and infrastructure, the accelerated development of the Global South, the greening of transportation chains, and exponential growth in the implementation of artificial intelligence and new technologies across all sectors,” added Mikhail Bazhenov, Head of the Business and Logistics Practice at Trust Technologies.
The open publication of this research reflects the shared commitment of Delo Group and TeDo to building long-term partnerships within and beyond the industry.
In 2024, Delo Group released the first edition of the Trends Radar. At that time, one of the defining long-term factors identified was the shift in global demographics—rapid population growth in some countries and decline in others—which in the coming decades will influence priority areas for the development of logistics services between Russia and other countries. < Back to list
