Russia’s leading operator of marine container terminals Global Ports (part of Delo Group) has purchased three new spreaders for port handling equipment for its Far East terminal in Wrangel Bay (Primorsky Krai)*. The design allows to grip one forty-foot or two twenty-foot containers at a time, which makes it possible to handle an average of 36 containers per hour between a vessel and the shore instead of standard 25 boxes per hour. Thus, vessel handling intensity at the terminal is increasing. The equipment is used on STS cranes and a mobile harbour crane. The new load-carrying devices are equipped with ultrasonic sensors to improve safety. When the device approaches a container, the crane receives a signal and automatically slows down, minimizing the risk of the spreader hitting the container. In 2025, similar sensors are planned to be installed on all spreaders in the fleet of equipment at the Global Ports Far East terminal. < Back to list
