The vessel’s captain, Vladimir Yushin, received a distress notification from the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Rescue Coordination Center on the evening of October 8. After departing from the port of Magadan, the SASCO Angara immediately set course for the designated search area.
Two hours later, the crew spotted the fishermen’s boat, already taking on water amid freezing temperatures. Both men were suffering from hypothermia, and one was unable to move independently. Crew members quickly hoisted him aboard and provided first aid to both victims. Following the rescue, the SASCO Angara continued to search for a second boat reportedly carrying another fisherman. Shortly thereafter, the coordination center reported that the second vessel had safely reached shore, and the search was concluded. The SASCO Angara then returned to Nagayeva Bay, where the rescued men were transferred to a motorboat before the ship resumed its voyage.
“Seafarers always come to the rescue! Thanks to their professionalism, excellent training, and composure, our sailors acted swiftly and cohesively in saving the fishermen, despite the freezing conditions. We are proud of Captain Vladimir Yushin and his entire crew,” said Sergey Simanikhin, CEO of SASCO. < Back to list
