Delo Group has updated its key container transportation market indicators based on August 2026 data. The latest figures are available on the Delo.Analytics portal.
According to the Delivery Cost Index*, the cost of shipping increased by 6% in August compared with July, reaching USD 10,076. Rates have been rising for the eighth consecutive month across all major routes amid steady demand from importers. If demand remains stable, tariffs will continue to rise in September as well.
The highest Route Competitiveness index remains for routes via the Russian Far East (0.89 on a scale from 0 to 1**) and railway border crossings (0.78).
The level of Cargo Containerization remained unchanged in August compared to July – 6.6%.
The Russian container transportation market in August 2026 amounted to 595,000 TEU, which is 9% lower than in July. The negative trend is due to a temporary reduction in traffic in Novorossiysk. It is expected that in September, positive dynamics may recover due to the adaptation of logistics chains and the reorientation of part of the cargo flow to the ports of the Baltic and the Far East.
* All indices are calculated for the transportation of a 40-foot container on the China–Moscow route, a key corridor for Russian imports.
