Global Ports Launches New Multimodal Service for Cargo Delivery from China to Kaliningrad

First Container Terminal (FCT), located at the Big Port of St. Petersburg and part of the Global Ports holding of the Delo Group, has handled the first container train under a new regular multimodal service that delivers import cargo from China to Kaliningrad via the Russian Far East.

The service is organized by Global Ports, Novik Group, and RusTrans Group. The logistics chain integrates three modes of transport — maritime, rail, and road — providing enterprises in the Kaliningrad Region with a reliable alternative to routes via the Suez Canal and land border crossings.

As part of the initial shipment, 75 forty-foot containers carrying automotive components from China were delivered aboard a RusTrans Group vessel to the Global Ports terminal in Vrangel Bay. Following customs clearance, the containers were dispatched by a dedicated container train to FCT in St. Petersburg. After handling at the terminal, the containers will be loaded onto a Novik Line vessel for transportation to the Port of Kaliningrad, from where they will be delivered by road to industrial facilities across the region.

Trains on the service run every 12–14 days, with a total transit time of around 25 days from departure in China to delivery to the final consignee in Kaliningrad.
