According to the Delivery Cost Index*, the cost of shipping increased by 6% in July compared with June, reaching USD 9,531. Rates increased across all major routes amid sustained demand from importers.
Routes via the Russian Far East continue to have the highest Route Competitiveness Index, at 0.72 on a scale from 0 to 1**, followed by routes via rail border crossings at 0.69. Routes via Far Eastern ports became more competitive in July due to shorter actual transit times.
The cargo containerization rate stood at 6.6% in July, down 0.1 percentage points from June. The decline was driven by an increase in transit shipments of non-containerized cargo, particularly fertilizers transported in mineral wagons and timber cargo.
Russia’s container transportation market totaled 656,000 TEU in July 2026, down 2% from the previous month.
