Global Ports marine container terminal operator (part of the Delo Group), Oktyabrskaya Railway (OZD, a branch of Russian Railways), and Post Logistics Company (PLC, a subsidiary of Russian Post) have agreed to develop regular container rail transportation from China to Northwestern Russia. The corresponding tripartite cooperation agreement was signed at the International Transport and Logistics Forum in St. Petersburg on April 2, 2026, by Albert Likholet, CEO of Global Ports; Viktor Golomolzin, Head of the Oktyabrskaya Railway; and Vilen Khilchenko, Executive Director of PLC.
The new direct rail service is planned to be launched by the end of the second quarter of 2026. It is designed to streamline the delivery of postal items and consumer goods to Russia, including household appliances, clothing, and footwear. The estimated transit time for cargo from China to St. Petersburg is 15 days.
PLC and Russian Railways will dispatch regular accelerated container trains carrying imports along the route Hunchun (China) – Kamyshovaya – Ussuriysk – Yanino Logistics Park (Global Ports' inland terminal on the border of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region). At Yanino, containers will be unloaded for the further shipment of goods throughout Russia.
"The launch of the direct rail service from China to St. Petersburg will significantly accelerate the delivery of import goods to the Northwestern region of Russia. Global Ports' terminal infrastructure will allow our customers to perform all necessary cargo handling operations on-site and dispatch the goods to the consignee without delays," noted Albert Likholet. < Back to list
