The mechanism with a lifting capacity of 45 tons replaced the outdated equipment with a lifting capacity of 24 tons. It allows to place containers in three tiers (previously – in two tiers), which increases the capacity of the site from 264 to 500 TEUs. The new crane unlike the previous one is equipped with a telescopic spreader with a special sliding frame for working with 20-foot and 40-foot containers. On the previous model, the device for handling 40-foot containers was installed manually.
The installation of the new crane is one of the stages of the terminal's reconstruction, which began in 2023. The works include the renovation of the container handling area, crane tracks and video surveillance system, as well as the construction of a building and container repair area. Total investments amount to 482 million rubles. The reconstruction is planned to be completed by the end of 2025. As a result, the terminal capacity will reach 31 thousand TEUs per year, which is 72% higher than the value before the start of the project.
The terminal of Magnitogorsk-Gruzovoy station accounts for 27% of the volume of containers handled by PJSC TransContainer on the polygon of the South-Ural Railway.
At the end of 2023, the reconstruction of the terminal at Magnitogorsk-Gruzovoy station was included in the list of priority investment projects of the region by the resolution of the Government of the Chelyabinsk region. In January 2024, PJSC TransContainer and the Government of the Chelyabinsk Region signed an agreement to ensure the implementation of the project. Currently, together with the Ministry of Economic Development of the region, work is underway to extend the priority investment project status for 2025. < Back to list
