The cargo turnover of DeloPorts, which operates container and grain terminals of Delo Group in Novorossiysk, for three quarters of 2021 increased by 12% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 8.8 million tons.
The growth in the turnover of DeloPorts for 9 months of 2021 occurred against the background of opposite vectors of the logistics market behavior. In particular, container turnover in Russian ports grew by 7%, while grain exports across the country fell by 2% after changes in regulation from the beginning of this year.
NUTEP Container Terminal,a part of DeloPorts, increased the volume of container handling by 17% to 414 thousand TEU (standard container in twenty-foot equivalent) during this period. In the 3rd quarter of 2021, it processed almost 117 thousand TEUs (an increase of 17%).
The volume of grain transshipment at the KSK terminal, which is part of DeloPorts, practically did not change during the period under review and amounted to 3.5 million tons. In the 3rd quarter of 2021, handling decreased by 5.5% and amounted to 1.5 million tons. At the same time, in the new grain season, KSK is the leader in terms of grain transshipment among the deep-water ports of Russia.
«Container turnover continues to grow steadily amid favorable external factors. Transshipment of grain following the results of 9 months of this year went almost to zero. We associate this, first of all, with the current export duties, since world prices for wheat were breaking records throughout the third quarter. However, we believe that the group's grain handling results are good, given that overall grain handling in ports fell by almost 10 percent. We expect that in the fourth quarter the market will stabilize, and by the end of 2021 we will reach the planned indicators of transshipment at KSK,» - said Igor Yakovenko, Chief Executive Officer of DeloPorts.
Delo Service Company, which operates its own modern tugboats fleet at the Group's terminals in Novorossiysk, has increased the volume of mooring services by 34% to 1227, which reflects an increase in the number of vessel calls to Delo Group assets.
