Delo Group continues to follow the course of sustainable development to maintain a healthy climate within the framework of the environmental and social aspects of the ESG agenda. This was stated by Vera Smirnova, the Head of sustainability initiatives at the Delo Management Company, as part of her speech at the KEPT event “Opening New Horizons: ESG agenda in the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East”.
During her speech, she noted: “At the end of 2021, we began to develop a strategy for sustainable development to formalize our priorities in this field. Our company’s activities are in line with most of the sustainable development goals adopted by the UN General Assembly. The strategic goal of the Group is to become leaders in «green» logistics and contribute to the development of a sustainable logistics industry in the Russian Federation”.
According to Vera Smirnova, a key role in achieving the maximum effect of environmental preservation is given to the reduction of the carbon footprint. The contribution of the Group in this case is to increase the volume of rail freight traffic.
“Among other things, in response to today’s requests of society and our clients regarding the reduction of climate risks for the planet, we switched to the use of renewable energy from wind power plants, hydroelectric power plants, and developed and approved internal methods for calculating SCOPE 1, 2, 3. The Environmental Policy was approved, including issues of energy consumption and reduction of the negative impact on the environment. A greenhouse gas calculator has also been developed”.
Vera Smirnova specifically noted the Group's new social initiative to support a corporate program of having many children. The Company pays 1 million rubles for every 3rd child born. This program was launched in June 2022, and already in July the first families of the company's employees received payments of 1 million rubles.
