The Delo Group (the Group) strives for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the operations of its sub-holdings. On May 23, 2022, such a statement was made by Andrey Zaitsev, Director for Development of Management Company Delo (the headquarters of the Group), speaking at the XIII International Forum “Ecology”.
During the address, he noted: “Railway transport emits only one percent of total greenhouse gas from all the means of cargo transportation.
Our company is already able to offer the most environmentally friendly way of cargo delivery, providing reliability and optimal delivery time. So, the Group's assets can be recognized amoung the most climatically efficient in comparison with average industry indicators.
According to Andrey Zaitsev, the decrease of greenhouse gas emissions within the Group is achieved not only as part of measures to ensure operational efficiency, but through the transition to the use of renewable energy.
In 2021, TransContainer turned to hydropower by acquiring international renewable energy certificates I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate).
And the key assets of DeloPorts - NUTEP Container Terminal and KSK Grain Terminal, switched to the use of renewable wind energy.
“In the meantime, we remain a reliable, responsible, and transparent partner. The Group is one of a few logistics companies in Russia to publish the most comprehensive ESG reports of its assets by international standards for 2021.
We also disclosed greenhouse gas emissions for Scope 1 (direct emissions) and Scope 2 (indirect emissions), and plan to disclose Scope 3 (other emissions) in 2022.
In addition, we are ready to share our experience with market players and help the industry to become as open as possible in an interests of achieving climate goals of our customers,” – Andrey Zaitsev added.
