In December 2021 NUTEP, the part of DeloPorts, the stevedoring asset of the Delo Group signed the agreement with Chinese corporation Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd (ZPMC) on production and delivery of the new ship-to-shore crane. It became the next stage of the investment program on the NUTEP terminal modernization.
The total contract value is over 10.4 million euro.
According to the agreement, in September 2023 the «Ship-To-Shore» crane of ZPMC-STS-LC50-BL61 model must be delivered. The crane will be installed at berth №39 of NUTEP container terminal instead of two STS cranes decommissioned and dismantled in 2021.
The technical specifications of the new crane (lifting capacity 50 tons, lifting height 35 meters, lowering depth 15 meters, sea console departure 46 meters) significantly exceed the characteristics of decommissioned equipment.
According to estimates, the launch of the new STS crane will allow DeloPorts to increase annual container throughput by 85 thousand TEUs.
Igor Yakovenko, the CEO of DeloPorts commented on the agreement: «The expansion of the NUTEP terminal’s capacity cannot be conducted only by a physical increase of a berthing front or container storage, as it is a complex of interrelated operational facilities.
Modern handling equipment that conforms with the requirements for speed of operations, safety and volume of cargo traffic is necessary to achieve this goal.
The crane productions and supply agreement with our trusted partner ZPMC is a next stage in the implementation of NUTEP modernization by updating its main operating equipment for the new goals».
