The modification of the railway front will increase the throughput capacity of the four FCT's tracks by 8% to 273,000 TEU per year, simplify the accessibility of the truck handling front by reducing the load on railway crossings and increase the speed of train handling by reducing shunting operations associated with the breakdown of train by Russian Railways.
FCT is modernising the railway front against the backdrop of the consistent recovery of container throughput on the Russian Baltics and the growing load on its own railway infrastructure. In addition, the need for track lengthening is determined by the trend to increase the number of wagons in cargo trains.
